Fraunhofer FOKUS exploits its experience and IPR gathered in publicly funded projects to conduct high quality, cutting-edge research and development for its clients.
Fraunhofer FOKUS in DataVaults: Building on the organisation’s extensive experience in managing European research and innovation projects, FRAUNHOFER will be the coordinator of the project. It will contribute in the data value chain and the core data model definitions. Lastly, Fraunhofer will contribute to all development tasks, leading the Dataset Composer Bundle and the definition of the platform architecture.
ATOS Spain S.A (ATOS)
Atos is a global leader in digital transformation. With its cutting-edge technologies, digital expertise and industry knowledge, Atos supports the digital transformation of its clients across various business sectors. Atos Research & Innovation (ARI) is the R&D hub of Atos for emerging technologies. With almost 30 years of experience in running Research, Development and Innovation projects, ARI has become a well-known player in the EU context. The multidisciplinary and multicultural team has the skills to cover all the activities needed to run projects successfully, from scientific leadership to partnership coordination, from development of emerging technologies to the exploitation of project outcomes, with a strong focus on dissemination, innovation adoption and commercialisation. Since 2014, Atos is a founding member of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA), assuming the roles of Vice-presidency and Deputy Secretary-general.
ATOS in DataVaults: ATOS will be leading the definition of the DataVaults value chain. Moreover, ATOS will work actively in privacy-aware and big data analytics. ATOS will also take part in privacy and blockchain-related work for the implementation of the Security, Privacy and Trust Bundles. ATOS will be also responsible for the technical Verification and Integration Testing of the platform and will assist in the pilots’ development, integration and exploitation of the results.
Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)
The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) was founded in 1829 and is one of the largest universities, devoted to technical subjects in Scandinavia. Involved in EC projects for more than 25 years, DTU has extensive experience of acting both as coordinator and as beneficiary. It excels at multidisciplinary and cross border research and benefits from excellent professional and administrative support. The Cyber Security Section, at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer science (DTU Compute), created in January 2016, addresses the increasing need for research and education in cyber security. The section conducts research in most aspects of computer and information security, from post quantum cryptology to location-based security mechanisms for cyber-physical systems.
DTU in DataVaults: In the context of DataVaults, DTU will heavily contribute to both the design and modelling of distributed ledgers that can support enhanced data sharing and user privacy but also to the policy enforcement and run-time risk assessment and vulnerability analysis of the overall framework and help provide scientific inputs to all envisioned use cases. DTU will lead the consortium’s effort on defining the core concepts of the DataVaults framework, functionalities, verification and implementation requirements. Furthermore, DTU will be involved in the definition of the reference architecture and documentation of the blockchain-related tasks. DTU as an academic partner will also contribute to the dissemination task with a focus on academic dissemination.

Moreover, based on its experience in data access management and analytics, UNISYSTEMS will provide the risk management and access control bundles. Furthermore, UNISYSTEMS will provide support to the ANDAMAN7 demonstrator.
Infineon Technologies Austria AG (IFAT)
Infineon Technologies Austria AG (IFAT) is a legally independent subsidiary of Infineon Technologies AG (IFAG). It is one of the globally acting manufacturing and research & development centres of Infineon Technologies AG. The manufacturing facility acts as a centre of competence for manufacturing of power semiconductor discrete and integrated products. Over 1.800 engineers and researchers in Villach as well as in Graz, Linz and Vienna develop semiconductor products for the facility in Villach, as well as for all other manufacturing locations of the enterprise. The Development Centre Graz (DCGR) is Infineon’s centre of competence for contactless technologies with profound system-, development-, engineering- and manufacturing intellectual property for the business lines Automotive and Chip Card and Security.
IFAT in DataVaults: IFAT will lead the implementation of the Secure Data Sharing and Access, Privacy and Trust Preservation and IPRs Management Bundles. Infineon is a leading expert in security ICs, like TPMs and chipcard controllers. With its Blockchain Security 2 Go starter kit, Infineon is the first to provide an NDA free blockchain development kit, which provides a basis for hardware-security-based blockchain wallets. The contactless chipcard controller technology, which is at the core of this development kit has been developed by IFAT at the Development Centre Graz. IFAT will contribute with its expertise and technology to DataVaults, use DataVaults to find new fields of applications for its contactless chip card controller technology and further develop its contactless chipcard controller technology and its Blockchain development kit.

SUITE5 in DataVaults: SUITE5 will be the technical coordinator of the project. Moreover, it will deliver the DataVaults MVP and will also lead the implementation of the Trusted Intelligence Bundles for Personal Data Insights, and especially the searchable encryption and on edge analytics. As a technology provider, Suite5 will be engaged in the development activities, while it will also provide support to OLYMPIACOS demonstrator.
Assentian Europe Ltd (Assentian)
Assentian Europe Limited is a Cyber Security and Blockchain Innovation lab working with clients and partners to address current business challenges by exploring the potential of emerging technologies. They also advise their clients on the requirements of regulation, standards and directives and how they impact business processes and solutions. Assentian has experience of working with a number of public authorities throughout Europe and the Far East, some of the world’s leading financial institutions, fintech’s and global technology companies. Assentian has collaborated on Blockchain Projects in Europe and North America on subjects ranging from Digital Identity, Data Sharing to Supply Chain Traceability. Assentian’s personnel have led a number of Smart City Initiatives across Europe and China. Personnel at Assentian have also a long history of delivering digital transformation and Innovation Projects to Cities and Public Authorities utilising the latest emerging technologies and have participated in major EU large-scale interoperability initiatives.
Assentian in DataVaults: The secure and legal handling of, and access to data, is at the heart of Assentian’s core business. Therefore, it is expected for ASSENTIAN to lead the design and implementation of features necessary for the platform to ensure protection of data and compliance to the GDPR. Moreover, ASSENTIAN will drive the collection of requirements from the demonstrators’ perspective, as well as the implementation of the demonstrators, leading the evaluation framework definition and demonstrators’ evaluation tasks.
ETA Consulting SRL (ETA)
ETA Consulting is an Italian SME operating on European Research and Information Technology field. The main areas of ETA’s expertise include system integration, innovation development, legal, societal and ethical issues management, further to dissemination and exploitation. Its competences include Responsible Research & Innovation, e.g. anticipating/addressing Ethical, Legal and Social Implications (ELSI) or Aspects (ELSA) of new research. Through its Legal Issues Department (LID), the company ensures an inter-disciplinary perspective on ethical and legal questions posed by scientific and technological innovation, combining ethical aspects of science and new technologies with EU legislation and policies. Ethical management, supervising that all activities are in compliance with Personal Data Protection laws, the overall regulatory system and ethical standards, is also within the scope of ETA’s activities. ETA provides advice and practical guidance on the ethical aspects, dilemmas and tensions of research projects, as well as, on how these can be translated into tools, safeguards and procedures diversified depending on the research field.
ETA in DataVaults: ETA will lead the activities related to security aspects and privacy considerations in a personal data management as well as the outlining of value generation and commercialisation of personal data. ETA will work on the legal informatics side of the methodologies and of the tools. Moreover, it will also lead the definition of the business model for the data sharing to be supported by the platform during its market entry period, and will also help the consortium during the preparation for the establishment of the joint venture. Last but not least, ETA will be the DPO manager of the project.

Fundacion Tecnalia Research & Innovation (TECNALIA)
TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION is the leading private and independent research and technology organisation in Spain and one of the largest in Europe. The TECNALIA Group in Cloud Technologies and High-Performance Architectures has as main goal the research of cost-efficient big data and cloud architectures. The main goal of the Cyber Security Group at TECNALIA is to promote the adoption of cybersecurity solutions to increase resilience to cyber-attacks, reduce security risks and ensure compliance with industry standards. The research topics of this group include among others: Distributed Ledger Technologies, security and safety by design, network security and information security, compliance management of the industry standards and compliance evaluation to get system certification.
TECNALIA in DataVaults: TECNALIA will contribute actively and lead tasks related to Secure Data Sharing and Access, Privacy and Trust Preservation, while contributing heavily in the development of the cloud based DataVaults platform. In addition, TECNALIA will participate in the identification of the sources and types for personal data as well as in the definition of the Personal Data Value Chain. Finally, TECNALIA will contribute to the dissemination and exploitation of the project results.

Maggioli is the main Italian company with a guiding role for those who operate in Local Public Administrations, offering a broad range of specific, highly professional solutions in several domains (business areas): i) Information Technology, ii) Services & Technologies, iii) Publishing, Training and Education, iv) Document Management, and v) Museums, Art and Culture. Maggioli Informatica has a significant know-how on analysis, design and development of computer systems in various technological environments for large and small customers. MAGGIOLI in DataVaults: The main role of MAGGIOLI in the project is that of the Exploitation Manager and of the Innovation Manager. Thus, MAGGIOLI will lead all related tasks, preparing the ground for the market entry of DataVaults. Moreover, MAGIOLLI will contribute as a system integrator, while it will also lead the coordination of the demonstrators. Finally, MAGGIOLI will provide support to the PRATO demonstrator.
A7 Software (ANDAMAN7)
A7 Software is a Belgian eHealth company, founded in 2014 by Vincent Keunen. A7 software was created to significantly improve communication between doctors and patients and empowering them to work effectively together. Our team of software engineers and medical specialists is focused on improving healthcare for everyone. The realization of this common object led to the development of Andaman7. Andaman7 is a PATIENT CENTRIC mobile tool for collaborative management of medical records between health professionals, patients, authorized relatives of such patients (parents or spouse, for example) and connected devices. Exchange and synchronization of information are Peer to Peer, based on original concepts (e.a. Atomic Medical Items and Block Chain) maximizing security and confidentiality.

Comune di Prato (Prato)
Prato is an urban community in Tuscany with 370,000 inhabitants including its Province. The population of the province area is mainly concentrated in the Prato City area that counts around 190.000 inhabitants. Prato has been and continues to be very active in Information Technology since many years. Its internal network is capable to interconnect 1.400 workstations in 25 buildings spread throughout the city area. To build this city network infrastructure, it has set-up an optic fibre backbone in the town centre, able to provide high-speed interconnection between different offices of the municipality on one hand and the prefecture and province on the other. The Prato Municipality promoted and/or took part to several projects partially or totally funded by external Institutions, among them: European Commission, Italian Government and Tuscany Region government. All the mentioned projects aimed to promote the adoption of emerging technologies in the day-by-day life in the city.

Dimos Peiraia (PIRAEUS)

It is the historic seaport of the capital of Attica and the biggest industrial centre of the country, while at the same time it is one of the biggest ports in Europe and in the whole world based on travelling records. The pursued strategic goals of Piraeus go through the implementation of smart city technologies and solutions, which at the same time ensures financial and technological growth for our community. The above, combined with the key target of blue growth, renders the municipality of Piraeus a unique testbed for several smart city solutions.
